Clarkson’s Farm star has worrying update from Diddly Squat

Fans are eagerly waiting for the return of Clarkson’s Farm — but behind the humour and chaos of Diddly Squat, a far more serious reality may be unfolding. According to Harriet Cowan, conditions at Jeremy Clarkson’s farm have become increasingly difficult, with rising costs and extreme weather now creating pressure that many viewers never truly see on screen.

“The Farm Really Struggled”
After becoming one of the breakout personalities of Clarkson’s Farm, Harriet Cowan has now shared a worrying insight into what life has really been like behind the scenes at Diddly Squat.

The 25-year-old temporarily stepped in for Kaleb Cooper during the latest season and quickly became a fan favourite thanks to her sharp humour and farming knowledge. But according to Harriet, the challenges facing Jeremy Clarkson and the farm are becoming increasingly serious.

Speaking about conditions over the past year, Harriet explained that extreme weather had a devastating effect on the land. A lack of rain caused grass to dry out and die, leaving the farm struggling to produce enough feed for cattle during winter.

As a result, additional hay bales had to be brought in — but soaring prices created another major problem altogether.

According to Harriet, bales that once cost around £40 reportedly climbed close to £90, creating enormous pressure once scaled across an entire farm operation.

And for many viewers, the numbers involved have come as a genuine shock.

The Crisis Fans Don’t See on Screen
While Clarkson’s Farm often focuses on humour, arguments and farming disasters, Harriet says the real pressures behind British agriculture are far more brutal than many people realise.

She explained that farming has become increasingly unpredictable, with farmers constantly relying on weather conditions that now seem harder to trust year after year. One season can bring flooding, another drought — and every mistake or failed crop carries massive financial consequences.

But weather is no longer the only concern.

Harriet also warned that the ongoing Iran conflict is now affecting farming costs in Britain, particularly through rising diesel prices. Red diesel used in tractors has reportedly become significantly more expensive, adding yet another financial burden onto already struggling farms.

According to her, many people outside farming simply don’t understand how deeply global events can affect food production at home.

An Uncertain Future for Diddly Squat?
Harriet admitted the current situation feels “very difficult” for farmers and expressed hope that conditions eventually stabilise before things worsen further.

Her comments arrive as fans prepare for Season 5 of Clarkson’s Farm, which is expected to return in June. But behind the anticipation surrounding the new season, there now appears to be growing concern over the long-term pressures facing Diddly Squat itself.

At the same time, Harriet has also left the door open for a possible return to the farm in future episodes, saying she would still be there if Clarkson ever needed help again.

And for many fans, that possibility may suddenly feel more important than ever.

Because if Harriet’s latest warning proves anything, it’s that the biggest struggles at Diddly Squat may not be the ones viewers see on television.
