Jeremy Clarkson’s girlfriend Lisa Hogan has opened up about a painful health condition.

Lisa, 51, has become a popular figure on the Amazon Prime Video hit Clarkson’s Farm. The series follows former Top Gear star Jeremy, 65, as he runs his Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire.

When not on the farm, Lisa says she enjoys going open water swimming. However, if the water is too cold, she says she can find her thyroid “hurting”.

Speaking of her daily routine to manage her thyroid issues, she told the StyleDNA podcast: “I take thyroid tablets every morning so I’m always slightly aware of it. If I go cold water swimming in the winter time, I know it’s nauseating. The one thing that hurts is my thyroid because sometimes it’s so cold. If it’s 8C or below.”

She also described how she adapts her wardrobe to safeguard her sensitive thyroid, saying: “I like a lot of scarves. I always have to have a scarf because I want to protect my thyroid.”

Lisa isn’t shy about sharing her chilly adventures; she’s posted an image of herself taking a dip in frosty waters on social media, while the Clarkson’s Farm X account showed a clip of her braving a wintry swim, questioning followers: “Lisa’s morning swim. How do you feel about cold water exposure?”

Lisa and her mate relished their swim, as they remarked in the video: “Lisa is a dab hand at this, she can get in slowly because I’m too scared. We’re also pleased because our mascara looks good, we’ve tested it and the blood is running around our body.”

While Lisa’s friends, wrapped up in scarves and hats, looked on, she braved the chilly waters. Reflecting on her open water swimming experiences, Lisa shared: “There’s a group of us that go swimming and I drive there and I think, ‘I’m going to die, I’m going to have a heart attack’, and I come back on top of the world.”

However, Lisa confesses that taking a plunge into an ice bath is beyond her. She explained: “They’re more difficult. It’s not amusing, at least if you jump into a lake it’s beautiful. I couldn’t do that.”

Before embarking on her career in entertainment, Lisa initially worked as a fashion model and met television host Jeremy at a soiree in 2017. They settled into what became Diddly Squat Farm three years on.

Lisa once disclosed that moving to the farm wasn’t in her original plans, but Jeremy’s invitation to manage the shop piqued her interest. In conversation with The Times, she revealed: “It was a way of getting me down here.

“I think Jeremy wanted me to move down here full-time, but if he’d said that to me I might have just said no. I said I would do it, but I want to be able to do what I want to do in it.”
